Arwen and the Rose Fairies

Arwen and the Rose Fairies

Kelli is inspired by the sublime in human beings and in nature. In Arwen and the Rose Fairies, the wonder of childhood, is seen in her daughter, Arwen's eyes as she discovers the lovely garden rose fairies. Another consideration is the effect this image has on the viewer. It reminds her or him of what it felt like to be a child, so full of joy and enchantment. It portrays the artiist's daughter Arwen as herself and two of the fairies. The other three fairies are her cousins, Evie, Shianne and Logan.

Arwen and the Rose Fairies was inspired by the innocence and wonder of childhood. Nature is another inspiration for this piece. The markings on the butterfly wings are those of the fritillary butterfly, the question mark butterfly, the grayling moth, and the blue swallowtail. On one level this piece serves as a portrait, of the six children and the moth/butterflies. On the other it tells a story about the optimism of childhood.
